Venetia Valley School Teacher Mateo Dillaway Honored as "Public School Music Teacher of the Year"

On behalf of the Marin Symphony Board, Marin County Superintendent Mary Jane Burke presented Mr. Dillaway with this recognition on stage at intermission during the Marin Symphony's performance of Tchaikovsky this Sunday. She recognized the role of his work in transforming students' lives, motivating them in all aspects of their studies and adding an element of pride and enrichment to the school climate and beyond into the community. She further recognized his example and influence over music education throughout the County. She commended him for establishing a strong partnership with the Marin Symphony and for demonstrating to all the importance of drawing on community resources to supplement teaching. She noted that great teachers make a difference and thanked him for being one of those teachers.
