Executive Order N-56-20 addresses minimum physical education (PE) instructional minutes and PE course facilities during the state of emergency as a result of the threat of COVID-19. Specifically, the Executive Order related to PE states:
- The requirements specified in Education Code sections 51210(a)(7), 51220(d), 51222, and 51223, related to minimum instructional minutes in physical education for grades 1-12 are waived, and the requirements specified in Education Code section 51241(b)(2), related to providing adequate facilities for physical education courses, are waived.
SRCS continues to prioritize the need for physical activity for our students during remote and in person learning. In the remote schedule for elementary students there are scheduled body breaks for students for physical movement and as part of our enrichment there are weekly virtual PE classes for students. In middle school, each student will have 80-85 minutes of P.E. per day for either the fall or the spring semester
