Announcing Venetia Valley's Interim Principal for the 2024-25 School Year

Dear Venetia Valley Community,

I am pleased to announce that at their meeting last evening, the San Rafael City Schools Board of Education approved Armando Oseguera as the Venetia Valley Interim Principal for the 2024-25 school year!

During the selection process, it became evident that the ideal candidate was already within the District and that this would be an invaluable resource to the Venetia Valley community. Mr. Oseguera has been with SRCS for 10 years, most recently serving as an assistant principal at San Rafael High School since 2021. Furthermore, he rose to the top as a hard-working educator who is committed to fostering inclusive and dynamic learning environments that promote academic growth and a sense of belonging for all.

The search brought an excellent field of eight skilled and experienced candidates, four of whom were interviewed. As part of the process, Mr. Oseguera interviewed with an advisory panel representing teachers, staff and parents and then again with the District’s Cabinet team. It was clear among the groups that he would be an ideal interim leader for Venetia Valley. He will have the full support of the District leadership and staff; there will be frequent, hands-on support to ensure that the Venetia Valley administration team and school are successful in all areas.

We eagerly anticipate the opportunity for Mr. Oseguera to connect with the Venetia Valley community in person. His enthusiasm and dedication are palpable, and we are confident that his leadership will bring about positive changes. In the meantime, I would like to share some of his own words about his excitement for this new chapter:

“I’m thrilled to join the Venetia Valley team as the Interim Principal for the 2024-25 school year. I look forward to working with their stellar staff and helping to make Venetia Valley a safe, engaging school where students thrive everyday. Go Falcons!”

Before serving as an assistant principal, Mr. Oseguera was an academic counselor at SRHS for five years and an academic counselor at Davidson Middle School for two years. He is well-known and respected throughout the District. Mr. Oseguera holds a Master’s degree in education administration and leadership from San Francisco State University and a Master’s in school counseling from California State University, Sacramento. He is driven by equity and is student-centered. As a bicultural, bilingual leader with deep roots in the community, Mr. Oseguera uses his extensive skill set to connect with students, staff and families so he can offer the best educational experiences possible.

We look forward to welcoming him to Venetia Valley!

Sincerely,

Carmen Diaz Ghysels
